Up early and off to Thailand on the Giant IBIS bus. The border involves us exiting Cambodia,
which is quite easy as our bus stewart takes our passports and gets them
stamped for us. Once he returns, we all
must exit the bus and walk out of Cambodia and into the Thailand border
crossing office. Our five minute walk
takes us through a swarm of young children in tattered clothing with runny
noses begging for money. They are
grabbing on and one little girl hounds Cindy for most of her walk. My new haircut seems to keep the little ones
away from me. We then have about 45
minutes in line while the two crossing guards stamp our passports. Then suddenly we are through and travelling
to Bangkok. Love when border crossings
go smoothly. Glad no bribes were needed,
as I am down to USD 18 left. Cambodia
works on the US dollar, even ATM’s give out US dollars. Change is given in the Cambodian Riehl. I must say, I do like the coinless
society. Much less bulky that having
coins.
Arrive in Bangkok after 5 pm, and have to bargain for two
taxis. We eventually end up at the same
place and get settled. A late evening
walk discovers ROUS’s (the Princess Bride), -
Rats of unusual size. No cats taking these bad boys down.
