Happy Anniversary
Sunday, July 2
Happy 22nd Anniversary, all the way from Vientiane, Laos. To beat the heat of the day, we headed out in the morning with our first stop at the Victory in Vientiane Gate, a take off of the Arc de Triomphe. The gate was never fully finished due to the major bombing of the country during the War in Vietnam, so the Victory in Vientiane is ironic. We continued our walk to the holiest of Buddhist temples in Laos. Then the trek back to our hotel. On the way back we came across an amusement park, but the boys were not interested in riding the ferris wheel. For our anniversary I went out and scoped out possible restaurants. After finding a busy little spot that did not have us standing on the road to eat, I returned with the good news that I found a great place to celebrate. After a little siesta we headed out. Our return to my wonderful find found the place empty except for us. The meal was poor, the traffic was loud, but the manager did try to drown out the traffic with loud Lionel Richie tunes. Another disaster planned by me. Hoping to get a chance to redeem myself on number 23.
